30th Anniversary Celebration
 

Westminster Village opened it's door to the first resident 30 years ago on November 1, 1979. This year, to celebrate, we planned several activities and events.

The first was to be the Spooktacular Pumpkin Contest on October 29 with David Walsh telling scary stories. Due to scary stories about the flu, Westminster Village canceled the contest out of concern for the health of the community. Instead we had a mini event for residents and employees on Friday, October 30. 

On Saturday, October 31 from 1:30 to 3:00, we celebrated with an Open House reception with cake, punch and recognition of Ruth Junk, a resident who has lived here since January 1980. We had a prize drawing for a 20" strand of fresh water pearls with 14k gold beads donated by Solid Gold Jewelers of Normal. The winner was Madeline McElroy. 

On Sunday the residents had a special prime rib dinner followed by a performance by the Bloomington Barber Shoppers Quartet. Our thanks to the Quartet's performance and Dietary Staff for the special meal. 

The final event of the Celebration was the Health Fair on November 2. 

Thanks to those who attended and Westminster Village Staff who did the setup, made food and planned the program. A special thanks to all the vendors and to those vendors who donated prizes.
